"Anne, Alpine Artist" by Michael Howard

“A sense of place is created as much its people as its landscapes and this photograph addresses that with this beautifully-executed portrait. The photographer thought about tone and color, using the light to enhance the subject’s eyes, giving us a window into her character. The soft-focus art in the background completes the picture. The one improvement I’d suggest is to have staged a little bit more art in the background – leaning framed pieces on top of the tables on the lower right and left and on the facing side of the red chest in the back. Don’t be afraid of staging your shot with whatever is on hand to enhance the narrative.”
