The Sul Ross State University Music Program proudly presents the “Communiversity” Band in concert on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 7:30 P.M. and Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. in Marshall Auditorium, Morelock Academic Building, on the campus of Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Admission is free.

Directed by Jeffrey J Meyer, our ROCK MUSIC program features music by two visionary contemporary female composers: Jennifer Higdon and Alex Shapiro. Higdon’s Rhythm Stand features the band performing on their instruments as well as drumming on their music stands. Shapiro’s Rock Music includes an electronic soundscape of samples created using rocks, and the musicians perform on rocks as well in addition to on their instruments.
